Accounting Question: Purchase Ledger - Please help!?

If an amount of discount received has been posted to the wrong side of the purchases ledger control account, it must have been posted to the debit side instead of the credit side. The effect is to increase the purchases, so the balance on the purchases ledger control account is higher than the sum of the balance in the purchases ledger accounts.
